The children have been investigating change by mixing colours whilst painting, when investigating flows and measures at the water tray and when kneading different coloured batches of playdough together.
Children have also flown paper aeroplanes, streamers and kites particularly on windy days. During Science Week, they loved the balloon rocket science experiment whereby a balloon was propelled along some string due to the force of air.
The erupting volcano experiment was a firm favourite because of the chemical reaction that happened once mentos was added to a bottle of coke. They also enjoyed carrying out the ‘Tornado in a Bottle’ experiment. The children are still continuing to experiment with different bubble wands including hoops and string to make bubbles.
“Look, it’s spinning.”
“Lava!”
“Volcano erupting!”
“The floor is lava.”
“Up, up, up.”
“Let’s see that again!”
“Zoom, zoom, zoom we’re going to the moon.”
“My aeroplane flew so far!”
“The bubbles fly.”
“The bubbles pop!”
“I can’t believe it! More bubbles again!”
“Oh, bubbles are my favourite.”
“It makes green! Blue and yellow.”
“Wow! Green is coming.”
“It’s disappeared. What happened to the blue?”
“We made purple when the red was mixed to blue!”
