Mountain Room are continuing to work on our focus and attention through engaging and motivating activities.
Some of the children have moved onto Stage 2 of Attention Autism, where they watch adults model exciting activities such as sprinkling flour onto shapes or pouring paint into a rainbow. We then put these activities out the following week so children can explore them themselves and have a go at using the vocabulary we model.
Children are also really enjoying sensory songs: feeling the wind blow and the rain and snow (flour!) fall; or watching an adult blow up a balloon and then it fly away. Some children have also started structured work sessions, where they sit with an adult 1:1 and concentrate on completing a short task. This benefits both their attention and fine-motor skills.
