In Mountain Room we have been developing our Sensory Circuits to ensure all children are alert, focused and calm enough to learn.
All children take part in at least one Sensory Circuit a day, with many also doing their own Circuit to suit their individual needs. The Circuits start with an “alerting” activity to wake children up – this may include running, jumping or bouncing on a peanut ball. Children then complete an “organising” activity to help them focus; such as throwing a ball to a target, climbing the stairs or completing a bead maze.
All children then finish with a “calming” moment; where they sit quietly and enjoy lights, a relaxing song and some gentle massage.
